One year in college, my roomies and I decided to each decorate our section of the kitchen cabinets. I believe mine mainly consisted of pictures of my favorite band, Brand New, while Megan had multiple photos of Zac Efron :) I believe there was even some text going across the montage that said, "Mrs. Efron".
Every New Year's Resolution I put "read more" on my list, but it never happens! I really do enjoy reading, but with 2 little kids and a job, I never make the effort to find the time to do it. So this year I've made it a doable, measurable goal - 1 book every 2 months. That's got to be possible for me, right? I'm sure everyone that's reading this and reads 3+ books a month are rolling their eyes, but nap time and evenings are usually dedicated to my job. So I'm hoping to steal reading minutes throughout the day. Maybe while the girls play, or while we're waiting somewhere, I dunno. We'll see...

1. The Danish Way of Parenting - so far enjoying it. But it doesn't "teach" as much as I was hoping it would. Still interesting, though.
2. The 4hr Work Week
3. The Spirited Child - Our pediatrician has recommended this book to me multiple times,. I think it's her subtle way of saying, "Your Rosie a wild child." :)
4. Why Not Me? - Mindy Kaling. I liked her first book. Books by comedians are always so fun.
5. Alice in Wonderland / The Alchemist - Alchemist is a short book, so I think I can lump it in with Alice.
7. Designing Your Life

This past summer we went on an epic 11 day road trip. We drove from our home in Virginia to Philadelphia to Newport, RI to Boston to New York to Assateague Island. We had the best time and talk about that trip often. We went over a lot of bridges and I tried to remember to take pictures over each one.

Ha! That may not be her name, but she is a dancer and she is tiny.

Rosie joined the 3-5 year old dance class at the Rec Center here. She goes once a week to plie and hop like a bunny. Literally. Most of the girls in her class are 5, so Rosie's the younggest and littlelest, but that doesn't slow her down...too much.

She had her first dance recital this past weekend and we couldn't have been more proud. I love when she throws up her arms at the end and yells, "We did it!"

So at her dance practices, the parents aren't allowed in the studio. So us parents have to watch our kids through a window, that goes from the floor to the ceiling but is only 12" wide. So the first few weeks it's all of us crowded around this tiny window trying to watch our cute kiddos spin and jump. And on top of that, when they practice their recital piece, the instructor pulls the blinds down so we can't see. Anyway, so I've been to ALL but one of her practices. And of course the ONE class I don't go to is the ONE class her teacher actually lets the parents into the studio to watch the recital piece! When Trevor came home and told me, I was so upset. I kinda wanted to cry. I know that sounds dramatic, but the whole thing was just such bad luck!

Thankfully, Trevor recorded the video, and I love her big, cheesy grin! So just in case you wanted to see one more version of the dance, here's one of her practices.

People keep asking me to post more pictures and info on Mabel…but the truth is, this girl sleeps a LOT! Like so much that both Trevor and I were worried that there was something wrong. But, when she's awake she's super alert, eats well, so we let her do her thing. She's 8 weeks old now - WOAH - and is starting to be awake a little bit more. The other day Rosie randomly decided to take a nap and it was just Mabel and me so I decided to do a little photoshoot! Now that I have a model that can't run away, I may as well start using my camera again (on Halloween I couldn't even remember how to change the F-stop! It had been TOO long).

-she's so cuddly. Which we love. Rosie was not, so it's so nice to have a little bug that loves to snuggle.
-the negative to her loving to be cuddled means that when she is awake, she insist on always being held. Maybe negative isn't the right word, but it does make things difficult sometimes. Thankfully she's content for me to wear her (most of the time).
-again, great sleeper. I can get a good 5 hr stretch every night. That didn't happen with Rosie until she was a year and half.
-smiling now. I'm pretty sure they're real smiles and not just gas. Gummy smiles are to die for.
Saturday evening I realized I was having regular Braxton

midwives around 9 and told her what was going on. She said that it can be
pretty normal and there was a chance they could still go away and just try to
ignore them if possible. I had slept a lot that day, but thankfully I was able
to actually fall asleep that night! BYU had a game that night that didn’t start
until 10 ET, so Trevor was up really late. He didn’t go to bed until 2:30AM! But
he still says it was worth it…ha!

Around 4:30AM my contractions woke me up. I read and re-read
the paper I was given of “when to call the midwife,” and realized that this was
it. Two weeks before our due date! I called the midwives and they said they
would head over soon.

I knew I wasn’t “far along” in the birthing process, but the
whole pregnancy I’d been nervous about having a repeat of Rosie’s birth - her
crowning in the car - I didn’t want that again! Too stressful! Plus, they
always say that the second birth goes faster than the first. So that’s why I
asked everyone to come when they did.

Bridget and Chrissy (midwives) showed up around 7:30 and
checked my vitals. She had been head down for the last few months and her
little booty was still high up in my belly. Her position was perfect.

I put on Hypnobabies’ “Birthing Day Affirmations” track and
put it on repeat. It really calmed me down and helped me relax. A couple hours
later, my in-laws left with Rosie. I didn’t really want Rosie in the house
(plus other people). Not only did I not want Rosie to hear me yelling, but I
found it very distracting hearing her downstairs playing. It was easier for me
to relax with everyone gone.

By the time I had hit 9 hours of laboring (not counting the
contractions from the night before) I was ready to be done! It had already been
2 hours longer than Rosie’s, so I was feeling frustrated and confused. WHY
wasn’t this baby here already? I thought for sure this one would only be 5
hours tops.

I can’t remember why, but Trevor had to leave the room for a
minute and I was having a bad contraction, and I was bent over, leaning on the
tub (which was still empty), and Bridget came over and pushed on my lower
back…It did not feel good. After the contraction I stood up and just started crying. I’m not sure why, but I
lost it at that point. Bridget, Chrissy, and Erin (apprentice) were all in
there and I just felt so weak and helpless at that moment. In my mind I thought
I was going to “rock this homebirth” and it was going to be easy, calm, and
peaceful. This was my second time around and I was going to have my dream,
zen-like birth. And right then I realized that I was exhausted, hurting, and
just wanted to throw in the towel. Sooooo totally NOT rocking it.

I just wiped my eyes and kinda shrugged, “I’m really tired…”
Bridget rubbed my arm and was totally understanding and said, “That’s Ok,
that’s ok. This is hard work. You’re doing fine. This is good. Let’s go ahead
and fill the tub up. A change of pace is a good thing.”

They then began filling up the tub and Bridget had me rest
on my bed on my knees with my head down and tailbone up. Then she’d push on my
back during the contractions and instruct me to breathe out low tones then take
a deep relaxing breath at the end of each one. The pressing on my back still
did NOT feel good, but the low tones gave me something to focus on, where
earlier I was just kind of moaning and shouting randomly. Trevor stayed right
next to me holding my hand the entire time. If he ever did need to step away,
he would always RUN right back to be next to me.

I was still up on the bed, with the tub filling, when they
stopped the water to let the water heater catch up. So they started boiling
water downstairs on the stove and in the skillet! And every few minutes they
would be up with a bowl of hot water to dump in the tub J

After a while they were able to turn the hose back on, fill the
tub, and let me get in.

It felt so good! I kinda sat on my knees, with my body
leaning over the pool towards the bed. While Trevor sat on the bed holding my
hands and me. The contractions just got stronger and stronger. I could feel so
many different things going on in my body.

I was in the water for maybe 10 minutes when my water
finally broke! Hallelujah! I shouted, “my water broke!” and they came running
in and the energy in the room changed. They were busy moving around getting
gloves on and grabbing their gear. Chrissy checked the baby’s heart rate but
was having a hard time finding the heartbeat this time, it wasn’t where it had
been earlier, but didn’t think much of it.

And then my body started pushing. I could feel my baby
starting to move down my body and beginning to crown. I could also feel the
ring of fire this time. Last time this all happened in a car and I was so
distracted that I didn’t feel any of it…I could definitely feel it this time.
And as tough as it was, I was just relieved this was almost over!!! I pushed
for maybe a 2 minutes then heard “We’ve got feet!”

Both Trevor and I shouted, “Is she alright?!!” Bridget
calmly said, “She’s fine, don’t worry.” Trevor leaned into me and said, “It’s
all ok, their faces look completely calm.” My body started pushing again and
this time she came out to her chest. They then said, “Wait until your body
starts pushing again.” But that didn’t happen! So we all just sat there for a
moment waiting for my body to push but nothing happened. So they said, “Ok
mamma, we’ve got to get your baby out so we’re going to need you to push hard.”
So I started pushing. They just kept saying “push mamma push.” But it was hard!
Not in a painful hard way, but a “how do I make my body do this?” kind of way. They
told Trevor, “keep telling her to push.” He did, and I kept pushing, and then
BAM it was all over. I felt instant relief, Bridget flipped me quickly around,
and they placed our baby right on my chest.

They placed a towel over Mabel and me and we just sat in the
tub soaking in the moment. She was breathing and she was BEAUTIFUL!

After 10 minutes, they cut the cord and I handed Mabel to
Trevor and they helped me dry off and climb out of the tub and straight into my
bed.

So here’s what we think happened - The placenta came out the
same time with Mabel. So they think that the placenta was in the way, so she
must have had to go under and around the placenta which caused her to flip.
Bridget said it was a good thing I didn’t have her check me a second time when
she offered, because otherwise we would have had to pack up and go straight to
the hospital, which would probably have resulted in a c-section. Midwives can’t
legally do planned breech home births. They also said it was a good thing that
we did a water birth because the warm water keeps the baby from taking a
breath. I guess when babies are born breeched they’ll feel the cold air on
their legs, which then stimulates them to breathe. But since Mabel was going
from warm to warm AND they could feel that the cord was still pulsing, they
knew she was ok. Phew!

They then did Mabel’s exam and she was so sweet the whole
time, just calmly looking around. She would let out cries whenever she was
moved, but that’s fair J
She weighed 7lbs 6oz! That’s big compared to Rosie!

The midwives then started cleaning everything up while Trevor,
Mabel, and I laid in bed loving the moment! We are so happy and feeling so
blessed!

I guess I'm still playing blog catch up, but I really wanted to document this moment. Trevor and Rosie seeing each other after 4 weeks. My mom just left after spending the week with us. It was so much fun! Having her here reminded me that I never blogged about my Idaho trip this summer!
After Austin, Rosie and I headed up to Idaho. We were planning on only being there for a week and a half, but since Trev still had a few weeks left of his internship, I decided to stay in Idaho 2 extra weeks! Since I was super pregnant with a 2-year-old it made more sense to stay where I had extra help. Plus I'm too much of a scaredy-cat to live by myself...
Rosie fit in well to farm life and I loved sharing parts of my childhood with her.

Whenever we needed to release the wiggles (for a toddler that's every other 5 minutes), we'd head to the pasture. There were cows to moo at, dogs to chase, and rocks to stomp on. She particularly loved the rocks.

I found one of my old coloring books, and Rosie went through and fixed some of the pictures...I guess I used to sign my coloring pictures? The red eyes were Rosie's contribution.

Although Rosie and I both missed Trevor like crazy, it was so nice to have my mom and Jim take care of us both for 3 straight weeks! Thank you!!!!

Miss Mabel is now 2 weeks old! And I’m so happy she decided to come 2 weeks early so we could cuddle her these last 2 weeks! She’s such a cuddly baby.

Even though Rosie was a newborn only 2.5 years ago, I feel like I've forgot almost everything, like –

-How TINY newborns are
-How floppy they are
-How soft they are
-How much they sleep
-How much they keep you awake!
-How much they poop
-How strong they are (it’s so difficult for us to straighten her legs during diaper changes!)
-How they make the funniest involuntary faces
-How dependent they are
-How sweet they are.
After Hawaii, both Trevor and I flew back to Austin. Since Rosie and I were planning on being out West for at least 3 more weeks, and it had been 2 weeks since Trev had seen Rosie, we flew back from Hawaii a day early so he could spend a day with Rosie before heading back to his internship. Even though it was only a day, it was so nice for us all to be together again. I loved it and was so sad when it was time for him to leave.

Some pics from Austin -

These two are only 7 months apart which sometimes makes them the best of friends and worst of enemies. I think for the most part they loved being with each other for 2 weeks, but they both seemed pretty happy when the trip came to an end. Urban wanted her mom back and Rosie wanted some peace. Can't say I blame either one!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15736305392911454108noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5350586773357142275.post-53814801651897305192015-08-30T19:06:00.000-06:002015-08-30T23:04:09.547-06:00BabymoonWhenever our company makes it's numbers for the year, we get to go on a trip. About 3 years ago the company was going to Maui but Trevor couldn't go with me because of his work :( So I took my Mom instead. I had an absolute blast with my mom but felt bad being in paradise without my husband, so I really, REALLY wanted Trevor to go with me this time. And miraculously, his internship let him go! I was completely shocked!

We decided to not take Rosie with us because I can only imagine what kind of hellion she would have turned into while being 6 time zones behind her regular schedule. She's a crank pot if she's just an HOUR behind. BUT at the same time I couldn't imagine NOT having her with me! I had only been away from her for 1 night, so it gave me major anxiety thinking about being separated for a whole week! I feel anxious all over again just typing this!

But she was in good hands with my sister and her 3 cousins. Trevor was interning in DC, so Rosie and I flew out to Austin and spent a few days there so she could get adjusted to her surroundings with me there. When Ariel dropped us off at the airport, I thought for sure Rosie would be upset that she wasn't coming with me...it was quite the opposite. Instead of Rosie breaking down into tears I broke down. It was so much harder saying goodbye than I thought it would be! Would she be alright? What if something happens and I don't make it back to her? What if she cries for me every night? What if, what if, what if?!!?!?!? Rosie wasn't questioning anything, so I walked into the airport all teary and red nosed...and then my day just got better...NOT.

The plan was to meet Trevor in San Diego, then together we'd fly out to Maui. I bought my tickets to San Diego through Expedia. All over my ticket it said American Airlines with American Airlines' logo all over the page. So, naturally, I waited in line at American Airlines (for 30 minutes!)....turns out in very fine print it says "US Airways." WHAT?! So I RUN to US Airways, but by then I was 5 minutes late after they lock the computers. Meaning, I missed my flight. I lost it. I started to shamelessly sob in the middle of the airport in front of everyone. I had been so stressed leading up to this trip, I was 30+ weeks pregnant, and I just said goodbye to my daughter...it was such a hopeless moment for me. (I know, poor Lindsey, she's on her way to Hawaii). Oh, and to top all off, since I'm pregnant I prefer to opt out of the full-body scanner and get a pat-down, which really doesn't bother me, but TSA made me wait almost 30 minutes while at least 20 families walked through the metal detector. The funny thing was that I had JUST given a lesson in Relief Society about seeing the Lord's Hands in our Lives. Ha!

In the end, everything worked out. It looked like we were going to have to pay an extra $400+ to change our flights, but the airlines were SO helpful and made all of the changes for free! We did end up having to get a hotel in San Diego, but even they gave us almost a 40% off discount PLUS upgraded our room.

Anyway, that was the only eventful part of our trip. Once we got to Hawaii, all we did was relax! By choice and by default. Since I was so far along in the pregnancy, there wasn't really anything I COULD do. I wasn't even allowed on a Pineapple tour! Sheesh!

But that's OK, because my main desire for this trip was to eat and sleep. The restaurant above is called the Gazebo and my Mom and I LOVED it last time, so I insisted that we eat there every morning on this trip. At first I think Trevor thought that sounded silly, but after the first day, he understood why. It's sooooo good!

We got a lot of snorkeling in too. It's against the law to touch the sea turtles, but it's actually more work to NOT touch them than it is to touch them. They swim SO close to you that we were constantly trying to move out of their way!

It was so weird not having Rosie with us. I missed her like crazy for the first few days, but it thankfully got a little easier as the days went on. Then it was just weird. Weird to be able to just sit still. Weird to not always be checking on her or chasing after her.

One morning we drove to the top of one of the volcanoes to watch the sunrise. There were clouds all around us, then once the sun started to break through, someone began singing a native Hawaiian song. It was pretty magical.

Being in Hawaii was amazing, but being just Trevor and Lindsey was even better. We never take date nights so it was so good for us to just reconnect and have a moment to ourselves before the baby comes. We're definitely going to make date nights a priority going forward!

-Almost 2 and a half

-Loves to dance

-Not ready to be potty trained. I was so excited to try the 3-day method, thinking we're totally going to rock this and Rosie is going to have this thing down in 2.5 days! Yeah right! It was awful, stressful, and messy. We threw in the towel after 2.5 days. Poor Rosie was so stressed out about it she wasn't sleeping well and her eyes were all red :( After a couple days of potty training I really loved the idea of diapers. We've had a little break and we plan on trying again soon...yay...
-Loves her new doll house that I found on the side of the road!!! I'm still so excited about it.

-Still loves the mirror.

-Had a tick. We're one of those parents that lets their kid run around outside in just their diaper. Yes, I know...well we usually check for ticks, but I guess we checked too quickly because the next morning Trevor did another check and found a little dot hiding on Rosie's lower back! Hidden behind her diaper! Since neither one of us were confident that we could remove it ourselves, we decided to take her into an Urgent Care unit. I'm glad we did because the tick was so small the doctor had to switch her tweezers to the needle tweezers. She then prescribed antibiotics as a precaution. I believe in antibiotics when necessary, but the way the Dr prescribed the medication was very nonchalant and left us wondering if it was really necessary since for an adult a tick needs to be on you for 24hrs...or something like that to get Lyme disease. But since Rosie's not an adult we weren't sure if that changed things...anyway, we went back and forth on what we should do and finally decided to go ahead with the antibiotics. We figured that any reaction she would have to the antibitics would be better than her catching lyme disease since there isn't really treatment. (The last time I was on antibiotics I got really woozy and developed thrush). On day 13 of the antibiotics, hives formed on the trunk of her body, we gave her a little benadryl (which is a whole other headache - all of the nurses and pharmacists we talked to told us to give her benadryl but no one would give us a dosage!) Benadryl seemed to help, but by the next day, the 4th of July, the rash had spread and her whole body was covered! Her poor little face was all swollen. So, we took her BACK to urgent care where they informed us that she is allergic to amoxicillin. They then gave her a steroid shot. This was her first shot ever and I was so impressed with how she handled it! She didn't like it, but there were no tears! Anyway, 3 days later she seemed to be mostly back to her regular sweet self.

-She loves to socialize and doesn't need my help to do so. One day while I was dropping her off at nursery, I set her down, she began to run off, realized I was still in the room, then promptly turned around and gave me a light push towards the door..."You can leave mom, I've got this."

-Can climb out of her crib so we've moved her to a bed. She's been handling the transition so well! It's so adorbable seeing this little body in a big bed each night. It makes her looks so little and so grown up all at the same time.

LOVES to color. Seriously LOVES it. She can color for hours and she has the COOLEST technique where she makes little scribbles with different colors. See below. It's beautiful! I have a Winnie the Pooh coloring page that has colorful little scribbles all over. I plan on framing it.
-I try to do most of my work while Rosie's sleeping, but with me being so pregnant nowadays I find myself napping when she's napping, PLUS I'm trying to get ahead of some projects so they'll be ready when I start maternity leave...which means I have to work during "wake" hours more often. So she's had a bit more television time than I would have liked, but she's so cute while she watches her favorite movies. She gets so excited and animated. This is her watching Monsters Inc. Happens every time those big, friendly monsters walk onto the scare floor.

He didn't have an internship lined up right away, which was a little stressful for him but super nice for Rosie and me. We were able to have Trevor to ourselves for a whole month! We played a lot and he was able to work on my long honey-do-list (the nesting phase started early for me this time around).

He did end up finding the right internship. He's working at a cool political tech start-up. They do data driven software and services geared towards campaigns, PACs, and other political organizations. The only downside is that it's in Arlington, VA. With his internship only being for a couple of months, and since it's so expensive to live up there, we decided it'd be best for Rosie and me to stay behind in Williamsburg and for him to go up alone. We were lucky enough for him to find a pretty sweet set up for him to live. He's renting from an empty nester couple that he found through our church. It's cheap rent, close to work (no awful DC traffic to deal with), and he gets his own room and kitchen-like area. So it's pretty perfect. It's been hard being away from each other but we make sure to video chat often and visit on the weekends.

On the first weekend we were there, we decided to tour the monuments. I did it once before with Trev way back when he was interning there for his undergrad, but for some reason I was decided to visit DC the week of Obama's inauguration...so it was CRAZY busy, freezing, and some of the monuments were either blocked off for different events/concerts, or getting maintenance. So I thought it would be fun to do the monument walk re-do. Plus this lazy pregnant lady needed some exercise.
I had looked at the DC weather forecast before packing and it said thunderstorms. But since Rosie will only wear dresses and I'd rather wear nothing with it being so hot/humid, I didn't pack anything for the rain...BIG mistake. Once we got to the Jefferson Memorial, which is almost the farthest away from the Smithsonians, it began to POUR. I honestly don't know what I was thinking not packing for the weather on this trip. It never seems to just rain in Virginia, it only pours, so I don't know why I was surprised. So we ran as fast as my pregnant body would allow us to the closet Smithsonian. The only problem was that EVERYONE wanted to take shelter - duh. So we stood in line, in the pouring rain for about 15 minutes waiting to get in. We were drenched, cold, and very uncomfortable. Except Rosie, who was snug and dry in her blanket and stroller!

The water parks, pools, and beaches have finally opened! It's been crazy hot here the past few weeks, but they all insisted on staying closed until Memorial Day. We went to the water park here for the first time and had way too much fun. It's a typical water park, but there are little kiddie parks throughout the park, which were perfect for me since all I can do is just sit in a wading pool and chill. But Rosie's favorite part was the wave pool. When the waves first started she began screaming. We thought she was scared but she really was just laughing/screaming. She loved it. She didn't care one bit about water in her face and eyes. Occasionally her head would go all the way under and she'd come up, frown, and tap her nose (water up the nose) and then run off laughing again. Easy peasy. Trevor sang that song on repeat as we canoed last weekend. We felt very Pocahontasy (she's from here). I was so excited when my neighbor told me there was $5 canoe rental here! I figured even if Rosie tried to jump out of the canoe the whole trip, it would be worth it for 5 bucks. But when we got in the boat, she was surprisingly good about it all! As soon as we got in the boat, Rosie reached for an oar to start paddling - which I thought was kind of weird considering she's never seen someone paddle before! Must have been a canoe-er in another life.

The weather was absolutely perfect that day and we had a great time. If the humidity doesn't kill us this summer, we'll probably have to go again :)Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15736305392911454108noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5350586773357142275.post-75429103275022788242015-04-13T19:00:00.000-06:002015-04-13T19:04:31.190-06:00Jamestown SettlementVirginia has a ton of history with a lot to see and do. But Williamsburg, in particular, has a bunch all on it's own. And since we live here, we get in free to all of the locations! But for some reason we just haven't done/seen hardly any of it. So yesterday we visited Jamestown Settlement, which is only a few miles from where we live - cool!

The cool thing about Jamestown Settlement is that everything is hands-on, which is perfect for a toddler who wants to touch and climb on everything!

The Native American version of Quidditch? The point of the game is to throw a dried corn cob with a feather at the top, through one of the 3 rings. Kinda fun, especially when you have Rosie who happily fetches all of the cobs for you. What a pal.

Shout out to IDAHO! xoxoAnonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15736305392911454108noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5350586773357142275.post-57177264161999860582015-03-04T19:45:00.000-07:002015-03-04T19:45:07.333-07:00Cursed?I think February cursed us. The whole month was non-stop sickness. I had a bad cold for a week, then Rosie got the cold for a week, then she had an ear infection (I think), then she got a stomach bug, then I got the stomach bug. Everything was awful, but the stomach bug was the worst. It was our first time experiencing a child throwing up - AND in the middle of the night.

At 3AM we hear Rosie shouting "Uh oh! Uh oh!" We ran into her room to find her standing in her crib with vomit all over her, her bed, her stuffed animals, and the carpet. Then it was the 3 of us, standing in the bathroom, Rosie shaking, totally freaked out, and Trevor and me staring at each other thinking, "I don't know what to do!" But then the parental gears kicked in and we took charge. Do you ever have those moments where you are just "lost" and it takes you a second?

She threw up 5 more times that night, and by the last 2 times we were able to get all of the throw up in the bowl! Booya! She had symptoms for 2 more days. Then on the day when she seemed to be getting better, the nastiness hit me! Thankfully, Trevor had 2 snow days in a row and was able to stay home and take care of Rosie and me. Phew!

On a positive note, I had been really junking out the week before and was feeling a little chubby. But after this bug I feel trim and sexy again.

Anyway, after loads, and loads, and loads of laundry, and hours in the kitchen cleaning dishes, our house is FINALLY back to normal. Even though it's still cold outside, I plan on opening all of the windows and letting some new, fresh air in and letting the cursed air out. Rosie and I deserve one heck of immune system this month.
Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15736305392911454108noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5350586773357142275.post-68093207733761645292015-02-03T18:21:00.000-07:002015-02-03T18:25:56.864-07:00Megan and Her Besties

The thing with Rupert is it's out in the middle of nowhere, super quite, which makes relaxing easy peasy! Especially after 2 weeks of travelling, I needed a little bit of a "slower" week. So I was glad we saved Idaho for last. Plus being home was fantastic and I loved being able to see my Mom, Step-dad, and dogs!

While there, we got a nice snowfall. This wasn't the first time Rosie had seen snow, but it was the first time she was able to play in it. And since little kids in snow gear are always adorable, funny, and slightly pathetic (they can barely move), this post is just pictures of Rosie and snow...

I looooooved visiting family for a whole month. It was a lot of fun, a lot of laughs, and a lot of planes. But I must say, we are all so happy to be back in our own home and in our own beds again! After Richmond, we headed out to Austin to visit my sister and her family! They've been there for almost 2.5 years and this was the first time we had been to their Texas home. PLUS - Ariel had a newborn that we needed to cuddle!!!! We all fell in love with sweet, little Huey - especially Rosie. We could always find her hovering over him; giving kisses.

After having the flu the week before, it felt good to get out and play. The minivan barely fit us all.

We went to the LBJ Presidential Library and actually had a really nice time. We've always wanted to go to a presidential library, but weren't too sure if it would be something the kids would enjoy. But they did - mostly. There were buttons to push, and screens to look at, and their favorite thing - the phone conversations. Throughout the library you could pick up different phones and listen to conversations of President Johnson with advisors, his wife, or friends. It was cool. Although, 4 kids, 3 adults, and 3 strollers take up a LOT of space. We caused a lot of traffic jams in that library.

The weather said it was going to be cold and rainy...turned out to be mostly true. Luckily it only sprinkled part of the time, but it was pretty cold! We still had a great time though. Lots of shows, kid rides, and even one roller coaster for us parents. Rosie was adorable on the rides. She's still so tiny, and could easily slide out of everything, but she thankfully stayed put on each one.

This was her very first ride. She thought it was pretty neat up until her glove came off and then that was ALL she could focus on. Each time she'd go around and pass us she'd stick her hand and glove out and say "uh-oh!"

The next day I was SICK! I got that awful flu bug, which didn't surpise me since two days before in primary 10 kids raised their hands when they asked if anyone was sick. The 4-year-old sitting next to me turned to me with his eyebrows raised and asked, "aren't you supposed to stay home when you're sick?" Ummmm YEAH! Anyway, I was stuck in bed with the flu for like 4 days and missed out on all of the Christmas activities. I thankfully felt well enough to get out of bed for Christmas morning and watch the kids open presents, but then I went straight back to bed. Bleh.

I had to wear the mask w/ my nose uncovered otherwise I'd fog up my glasses!

A couple days later Rosie also got the flu, but her case was a lot milder than mine. Just a low fever and a lot of crankiness. And I don't know how Trevor does it, but he NEVER gets sick. Anyway, even with the awful flu, the Christmas season was wonderful. A toddler definitely helps bring some magic to the season!
