Hawaii Part 1

Aloha! I just got back from a week trip to Maui! It was for work. And sadly, it was the EXACT same week as the Idaho Republican State Convention...so Trevor couldn't go. I struggled with what to do because I was feeling sooo guilty going without him...but who really can pass up a free trip to Hawaii...so I went. I took my mom and we had an epic mother/daughter date.

We went hiking along the cliffs and it was CRAZY windy! I tried to do a cool looking yoga pose, but it was too scary! I seriously thought I was going to get blown off the edge. And it's a lot higher than it looks...

We saw a lot of wild chickens. WILD CHICKENS! Everywhere else in the world you'll find stray dogs. Hawaii gets stray chickens. And you'll see them in the towns too!

This is a really cool tree - a Banyon tree. It starts as one tree trunk, then grows like a normal tree, with branches and vines. The vines then grow down to the grown and become a NEW trunk! So it looks like lots of trees, but it's really just one! You can't really tell in this picture, so here's a link to another image.

A blow hole. We made sure NOT to get too close. People have been sucked down before..scary!

My cousin Emily was in Maui the EXACT same week as us. Crazy huh?

I was so sick of seafood by the end of the week. And look at this plate - the menu said "thinly sliced marlin". It's see through! It took maybe 2 bites to eat it all. Sheesh.

I'm so happy to be home now with my husband. Although I'm having a really hard time getting back into the groove of things. I have no desire to unpack, do the dishes, or work out(which my body needs). Maybe next week..

  1. You are so lucky! I love the pictures! I bet it was hard adjusting to everyday life after that trip. I went to Scotland and England with my Mother-in-Law the summer after Barry and I were married and I missed Barry the whole time but had SUCH a blast. Traveling is the greatest.
