Cloth Diapers

I had no idea that people living in the 21st century used cloth diapers. I imagined pioneer women washing them with washboards down in the crick. But then I started hearing about people using them (WHAT?!) and liking them (Huh?!)I thought they were CRAZY (sorry Rachael<3). But then once I got pregnant, Trevor and I thought about the idea more and more, read about how great cloth diapers were, and decided we'd give it a go.

We've now been cloth diapering for almost two months and it's been surprisingly easy! I was pretty sure I would like the system but I thought for sure there would be at least a few things that we'd dislike. But there's not. Cloth diapering has turned out to be just as gross as disposables. Ha! I get just as much pee and poop on me as I did with disposables :] Which really isn't that much or that often. Sure we have a couple extra loads of laundry, but we also don't have a couple extra loads of garbage. So I would say as far as ease and grossness goes, it's about the same as disposables.

I don't want to make cloth diapering stressful, so we make sure to always have disposables on hand just in case the laundry isn't dry in time or if her cute outfit won't fit over her puffy cloth diaper. It's turned out to be really great and has already saved us a ton of money! I'll admit that I am a little nervous for when she starts solids...but we'll just have to cross that bridge once we get there! Yikes!

  1. AHHH she is just so cute. I love (ALL OF THESE) but the one in the bottom right where she is stretching her neck out like "look! Look! I can totally hold this melon head up!"
